In winter the 30 km long Rauris valley presents itself as a pristine, magical winter scenery.
Skiing - away from the busy slopes
For skiers and snowboarders the Hochalmbahnen family ski area offers a wide variety of slopes for every ability and generation. It is the ideal place to learn the first moves on skies or snowboard, practice the turns on the long, gentle runs, progress on the challenging tracks, enjoy pristine deep snow slopes such as the "Osthang".
Snowboarders can get a kick in the "Nugget Fun Park".
Skitouring in a magical winter scenery
For ski tours Rauris is a hidden treasure. Away from the busy slopes you find some of the most beautiful and well-known routes in the Alpine Region.
Three thousend metre summits such as the Hohe Sonnblick (3106 m) - hosting Europes highest, permanent serviced meteorological observatory, the Hocharn (3254 m) - the highest mountain in the Goldberg mountain group and the Schareck (3067 m) attract equally as the less challenging Kolmkarspitz or Silberpfenning.
Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing
Cross-country skiers journey through the beautiful landscape of Rauris Valley along 30 km of tracked cross-country trails (with an elevation of 950 to 1280 m). The alpine trails from Bucheben are easy to reach using the free valley bus.
Another pleasant way to enjoy winter is Snowshoing: dicovering nature in its purest form, enjoying the tranquility of fresh-covered winter woods.
The toboggan run Kreuzboden
The toboggan run Kreuzboden promises true sledging fun for the whole family. The 2 km long run is located at the Kreuzboden chairlift and open every day as well as floodlit after dark twice a week (weather permittig).
And there is also another beautiful sledge run at hte end of the valley in "Kolm Saigurn".
Paragliding and ice climbing
For those who are looking for more adrenaline rush, paragliding might do it. Airtaxi "Fly with Tom" offers Tandem flights to get to know Rauris from above.
Ice climbing might be another way to get the adrenalin pumping.
